The L2140 Test Lead Set is designed for DC four-terminal resistance measurements and was originally developed for use with the HIOKI RM3548-50 Portable Resistance Meter. It supports accurate resistance measurements across widely spaced test points, making it ideal for applications such as EV and hybrid vehicle maintenance, equipotential bonding tests, battery connection verification, motor winding inspections, and resistance measurements on industrial motors, transformers, and power supply systems.
The red lead features a straight, spring-loaded pogo-pin probe tip with a tip diameter of Ø 2.9 mm, providing stable and reliable contact on screws, busbars, terminals, and other conductive surfaces. The black lead is equipped with a large alligator clip capable of securely gripping objects up to Ø 30 mm, enabling dependable connections to grounding points and larger conductors.
Each lead pair is configured as a four-terminal measurement system with separate SOURCE and SENSE conductors. This arrangement minimizes the influence of lead resistance and helps maintain measurement accuracy, even across longer distances. The red and black leads are not physically joined, allowing flexible positioning over several meters.
The L2140 is optimized for DC resistance measurements and is not intended for AC impedance measurements, where parallel cable routing is required to minimize inductive effects.
Rated for up to 60 V DC, the L2140 provides a suitable safety margin for precision resistance testing. While designed specifically for the RM3548-50, it is also compatible with the earlier RM3548 and other instruments equipped with compatible four-terminal resistance measurement inputs. Its extended reach and flexible construction also make it suitable for bench-top measurement environments using instruments such as the HIOKI RM3545A.
